According to a study revealed by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, women over the age of thirty have under gone repeated abortions, were having more children, and most were using contraceptives at the time.
They have compiled this study with the help of surveys taken by both the government and private groups.
A senior research associate, Rachel Jones said,
‘This suggests that we need to do a better job helping all women better prevent unwanted pregnancies, so they can avoid having to decide whether to seek abortions or raise children they are not prepared for.’
It came into light that most of the women seeking abortions were from low-income families while some of the pregnancies were unintentional.
The institute, Planned Parenthood Foundation of America, postulated that women would have to be given counseling on how to use contraception effectively, since they are not aware of it.
Wall of Separation
The Institute’s president and chief executive officer, Sharon Camp said,
‘The ‘wall of separation’ that the federal government has erected between family planning and abortion services is, paradoxically, leading to more abortions. These policies interfere with the ability of abortion providers to ensure continuity of care for their patients by guaranteeing that, following an abortion, every woman has an appropriate contraceptive method and is able to use it consistently.’
It further said that Colorado, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania wouldn’t offer any kind of clinic state family planning subsidy if it has some connection with an abortion provider.
