A research from Quebec, Canada states that babies born to women who take painkillers early in their pregnancy may be at increased risk for specific heart-related birth defects. The study is one of the first to link use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) — such as prescription Motrin, Naprosyn, Voltaren — during the first trimester of pregnancy to birth defects. However, the experts caution that the study is preliminary and that the findings must be confirmed.
