Fats might increase fertility problems

Fat raises the possibility of fertility problems by more than 70%. Even a dough nut or a portion of chips per day can cause a harmful impact. The researchers at the back the study have recommended women who want to have a baby to avoid the fats, known as trans fats that are generally found in processed food. Moreover, they are also lacking in nutritional value. Processed and fast foods are a major reason for Britain’s obesity crisis. One in five Britons is obese and another two-fifths overweight. Infertility is also a growing problem, with one in six couples having problems conceiving. The survey was based on 18500 women who were trying to conceive and discovered 438 cases of ovulatory problems. If a woman does not ovulate, there is no egg for sperm to fertilize and so she cannot become pregnant. The researchers discovered that those who took 2% of their energy intake from trans fats, instead of carbohydrates or polyunsaturated fats such as sunflower oil, had a 70 % more risk of infertility through lack of ovulation. This was principally true for those with known problems in ovulating such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is not known how the fats affect ovulation but they might affect sensitivity to insulin, which is already known to play a role in fertility problems.
