Eating safely during pregnancy

Pregnancy is the most important stage in a woman’s life. At this point of time, she is standing at the threshold of a completely new life. So a ‘would-be’ mother should take a proper care of herself which gets reflected later in her baby. During pregnancy, you must take proper care of your eating habits as well. Pregnancy can make you relatively ‘immunosuppressed’ that means minor infections can be more severe as is said by Heather Welford on BBC website. In order to avoid such infections, follow the given rules: 1. Before cooking meat, wash it with plenty of running water. In addition, follow the same procedure with fruits and vegetables as well. In this way, you may save your baby from entering the harmful infection. 2. Keep your pets away from food preparation area. 3. Avoid mold-ripened soft cheeses such as brie or camembert, blue-veined cheeses such as stilton. All are associated with listeria, which can lead to premature birth and miscarriage. 4. Make sure that your readymade food is fully hot throughout before eating. It’ll reduce the risk of listeria. 5. In order to avoid salmonella infection, eat eggs only if they’re hard-boiled. 6. Avoid eating liver products as they contain high level of vitamin A, which may be harmful to your baby. 7. Avoid peanuts and peanuts product otherwise baby’s father, or the baby’s brother or sister, have a history of allergic diseases or conditions such as eczema, asthma, and hay fever.
