Most of us are cognizant with the fact that pregnancy last for 280 days, which is roughly 40 weeks, but what most of us do not know is that pregnancy is divided into three trimesters and each of these last about 12-13 weeks.
Each of this trimester is very different from other as different things take place in each trimester.
Let’s take a quicker look at the three trimesters:
First Trimester:

· This is beginning of pregnancy.
· Expecting women gain knowledge about pregnancy related facts in this phase - pregnancy tests, morning sickness and prenatal care.
· Experience lot of pregnancy symptoms as breast changes, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, frequent urination, blue lines under the skin over her breasts and abdomen, waistline expansion, protruding nipples, food aversions and cravings; heartburn and indigestion, fatigue, complexion problems, constipation; headaches, dizziness, or faintness.
· By the end of the first trimester, uterus grows into the size of a grapefruit, whereas the baby inside grows into size of a cherry.
· During this phase the baby changes from a mass of cells to a living being having heartbeat, reflexes and the ability to move it’s tiny limbs.
· During this trimester that the fetus is most vulnerable to damage from stuffs like– alcohol, drugs, certain medications, and illnesses.
· This is time when prenatal care starts.
· Expecting mothers should start taking nutritious and healthy diet, should start regular exercise to keep mum and baby safe and prepared for a healthier birth.
Second Trimester:

· This is the best time of pregnancy.
· Throughout this period expecting mums grow more empty-headed and absent minded.
· Tummy starts giving an idea that baby is growing inside you.
· During this phase of pregnancy expecting mums start to feel pregnancy discomforts like — sleeping problems and start feeling contractions.
· During this trimester, baby too starts developing gradually like — hair starts growing all over its body and its senses begins to develop as well.
· Baby will be round about 10 inches (25 cm) by the end of this phase
· Baby starts its kicking movements frequently during this phase.
· Most of the expecting mothers start to regain some of their energy during this phase.
· Closing stages of the second trimester start showing these signs — the uterus reaches near the rib cage, the skin on the abdomen and breasts stretches, a dark line forms from the navel down to the middle of the abdomen, brown, uneven marks appears on face or there might be other changes in skin pigment, area around the nipples darkens, Stretch marks appear.
· Second stage continues till the end of the seventh month
· This stage is symbolized as the easiest stage of pregnancy.
Third Trimester

· This is the end of your pregnancy.
· The third trimester with it brings many big and noticeable changes to body
· May feel like to urinate frequently.
· Tummy starts looking as if it’s ready to explode.
· This is the perfect time to learn about childbirth and breastfeeding.
· During this phase fetus continues to grow in weight, size and the body systems finally finishes maturing.
· Mums starts feeling uncomfortable as her weight is continuously growing.
· False labor contractions or pains start during this phase.
