
Even though Back pain during pregnancy is fairly common but it’s not normal and in no way it should be accepted as just a part of the pregnancy process.
In order to make your pregnancy a pleasant experience and in order to facilitate an easier delivery, back pain should be always and immediately be addressed and managed during pregnancy.
Low back pain, which stays for several weeks or months during pregnancy, is a forecaster of post partum back pain that can be referred in simple language as pain after birth.
Factors that encourage back pain during pregnancy:
1. During pregnancy Hormone production makes joints less stable so that the pelvis spreads as the baby grows.
2. Typical weight gain of 25-35 pounds during pregnancy can also lead to back pain as majority of this extra weight is distributed around the tummy.
3. During Pregnancy postural strain increases due to change in center of gravity.
· Start wearing athletic or low-heeled shoes with good arch support, as this will lessen strain on the spine.
· Don’t sit continuously for long period of time.
· Perform some pelvic tilts in first trimester as these will help a lot to ease lower back pain along with this will strengthen the pelvis.
· Try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs if you have lower back pain while in bed as well.
· During the second to third trimester, you can use a thin pillow under the abdomen as this will give you comfort.
· If suffering from back pain or want to avoid it start wearing a maternity support belt religiously so as to give your back some sort of added support, belt will undoubtedly help to trim down back pain.
· In order to ease up muscle strain and swellings utilize ice and heat packs alternately for 10 to 15 minutes to your back.
· Make daily walk of 20 to 30 minutes your habbit during pregnancy.
· Pay strong attention to your postures.
· Stay away from lifting heavy objects or children.
· Remain glued to your exercise program.
